Jeep Opens Bookings For Grand Cherokee In India, Begins Local Assembly

Bookings for the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee are now open on the Jeep India website and at select Jeep dealerships across India. With the launch currently slated for the 17th of November Jeep has also begun assembling the Grand Cherokee at its facility in Ranjangaon, making it the brand's fourth model to be assembled in India.The 5th generation Grand Cherokee has an all-new architecture and sculpted aerodynamic body style combined to improve vehicle performance, safety, and reliability. Designed to maximize overall passenger safety, comfort, and convenience, the all-new Grand Cherokee is packed with next-generation features and technologies that make it stand out in the full-size luxury SUV segment.The new Grand Cherokee is sold in two versions abroad, but India will get only the standard five-seat version and not the larger three-row Grand Cherokee L. The new Grand Cherokee will only come with a single 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine. The engine will be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. However, Jeep is yet to announce the power outputs for the engine. The new SUV gets the Quadra-Trac I 4x4 System and gets selectable terrain modes.Prices for the new-gen Grand Cherokee, as per sources, will be around INR 85 lakh and it will compete with other luxury SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz GLE and the BMW X5. Deliveries of the SUV are expected to begin by the end of November.
